A surprise pool guest turns a regular maintenance visit into “Turtle Rescue 911”
Property management in the desert is never boring. From pool pumps to pest control, there’s always something new—but this one was a first.
During a recent visit to one of our client’s homes in La Quinta, I showed up expecting to handle a typical service check. Instead, I found a turtle—yes, a turtle—doing laps in the pool like he was training for the Olympics.
When the Pool Guy Says “Nope”
Naturally, I thought, “Okay, this should be easy.” But when the pool guy refused to touch it, and animal control wouldn’t come out either, I realized we had ourselves a situation. So, I did what any property manager would do—rolled up my sleeves and became “Turtle Rescue 911.”
I grabbed the pool net, scooped up our little swimmer, and set him gently on the grass. I barely had time to pat myself on the back before—splash!—he made a U-turn and dove right back in.
The Great Turtle Relocation
Round two was a bit more strategic. This time, I safely escorted “Free Willy, Turtle Edition” all the way down to the golf course pond. It was the perfect spot for a turtle with a taste for water adventures. I haven’t seen him since, but something tells me he’s still out there bragging to his friends about his luxury pool day.
